I came out of the broom clsoet to my mother

And it went well. I just felt like it was time. I did it in a theraphy secession, where i had invited her in. Luckly, my therapist knew what Wicca was, because my mother did not.

My mom respect my decision and she told me while she belived in God, it had been forced down her throat and she did not want to do that to me.

On thry they way home, we stopped by a bookstore and I showed her a book on Wicca to explain more of it to her.

It’s more than ritual and spells

Recently, I spoke to a woman who said that she was a dedicated Wiccan had not practiced in years. Why? Because she had not done rituals.

This is my thoughts. Rituals can be a wonderful and powerful thing, but they do not make me Pagan or what most of my practice is. My most constant ritual is when it is raining to go to my covered porch and sit on my swing, and just mediate and fell the engery of the rain.

Rain is very spirtualy important to me and I have a strong connect to thunder and lightening. I find the sound of thunder oddly comforting.

What does it mean to be Pagan? It you asked seven Pagans, you would likely get fourteen answers.

To me Paganism is about the Earth and your connection to its energies and using the energies to further your spiritual development.

I have not done a spell in years and do not feel the need for them. To me meditation and studying is far more important.

Thoughts on my favorite chant

Earth my body, Water my blood, Air by breathe, and Fire my spirit.

This is easily my favorite chant. It is so easy to remember and easily to visualize with during my daily mediations, Just easy to visual water flowing through your veins, and the fire burning inside you. I think each one of these lines mean something and I will break down what they mean to me personally.

Earth my body…

I love to visual my body becoming one with the earth energies. I think it has practical meanings as well. Your health is connected to the earth; from the air we breathe and to the food we eat. Are bodies live and our nourished by the earth and what she gives up and in return how we take care of her. Also our bodies are physical connection to the world around us and how we interact with it affects our environment, much how we effect the earth.

Water my blood….

Our emotions make up who and what we are. They are what control us and make us human. Even in our most logical moments emotions always play a factor. The heart was once believed to be the center of emotion, and now we know the heart is a pump for blood….but Still the association stays with us in cultural. Like emotions, if our blood spills out of control it means possible disaster to us. If it does not connect properly, or is blocked in some way to our heart (soul) it can also spell disaster. We have to allow our emotions to flow at a healthy rate and not over spill, like emotions.

Air my breathe…..

Air is the element of communication and intelligence. Must I say more? I guess I have to since I gave the others such decent entries. I’ll admit that air is the hardest element for my to relate to and is the least common element in my natal chart. With what we say we spread into the world, hopefully our ideas can be expresses freely, clearly and intelligently as possible. Let our ideas and thoughts be expressed like the wind and flow to the corners of the world. Will I am a blogger..Maybe I do understand the element better than I thought

Fire my spirit……

Fire is a very important element to be. I was born under a fire sign and my Matron is a fire goddess. Several weeks ago I posted a very emotional piece about my suicidal thoughts that ended with an experience with my matron and the element of fire. Fire is the element of passion and will. The will to keep on living and persisting despite all the efforts the world seems to put out in front of you in order to put out your flame, your passion and your inner light.

Charge of the God

Listen the the words of the Great Father, who of old was called Osiris,
Adonis, Zeus, Thor, Pan, Cernunnos, Herne, Lugh and by many other

My Law is Harmony with all things.
Mine is the secret that opens the gates of life and mine is the dish of salt of the
earth that is the body of Cernunnos that is the eternal circle of rebirth.
I give the knowledge of life everlasting, and beyond death I give the promise of
regeneration and renewal.
I am the sacrifice, the father of all things, and my protection blankets the earth.

Hear the words of the dancing God, the music of whose laughter stirs the
winds, whose voice calls the seasons:

I who am the Lord of the Hunt and the Power of the Light, sun among the clouds
and the secret of the flame
I call upon your bodies to arise and come unto me.
For I am the flesh of the earth and all its beings.
Thru me all things must die and with me are reborn.
Let my worship be in the body that sings, for behold all acts of willing sacrifice
are my rituals.
Let there be desire and fear, anger and weakness, joy and peace, awe and longing
within you.
For these too are part of the mysteries found within yourself, within me, all
beginnings have endings, and all endings have beginnings.

The Charge of the Goddess

Listen to the words of the Great Mother, Who of old was called Artemis, Astarte, Dione, Melusine, Aphrodite, Cerridwen, Diana, Arionrhod, Brigid, and by many other names:

Whenever you have need of anything, once a month, and better it be when the moon is full, you shall assemble in some secret place and adore the spirit of Me Who is Queen of all the Wise.

You shall be free from slavery, and as a sign that you be free you shall be naked in your rites.

Sing, feast, dance, make music and love, all in My Presence, for Mine is the ecstasy of the spirit and Mine also is joy on earth.

For My law is love is unto all beings. Mine is the secret that opens the door of youth, and Mine is the cup of wine of life that is the cauldron of Cerridwen, that is the holy grail of immortality.

I give the knowledge of the spirit eternal, and beyond death I give peace and freedom and reunion with those that have gone before.

Nor do I demand aught of sacrifice, for behold, I am the Mother of all things and My love is poured out upon the earth.

Hear the words of the Star Goddess, the dust of Whose feet are the hosts of Heaven, whose body encircles the universe:

I Who am the beauty of the green earth and the white moon among the stars and the mysteries of the waters,

I call upon your soul to arise and come unto me.

For I am the soul of nature that gives life to the universe.

From Me all things proceed and unto Me they must return.

Let My worship be in the heart that rejoices, for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are My rituals.

Let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you.

And you who seek to know Me, know that the seeking and yearning will avail you not, unless you know the Mystery: for if that which you seek, you find not within yourself, you will never find it without.

For behold, I have been with you from the beginning, and I am That which is attained at the end of desire.

Why witnessing to non-Christians rarely works

Having been witnessed several times over the last month about the evils of my Pagan ways, I have written a list of why witnessing rarely works.

1. They act or go in eith the with mentality that you are a bad person, and treat you as such.

Having been often raised to believe that people only reject the word of God due to the lack of desire to give up bad life style, they is often the automatic assumption. I have been accused by strangers who do not know my name of being a drug addict, alcoholic, or promiscuous.

The truth is I have never taken any type of drugs, hate the taste of alcohol, and am a virgin. People will not cconvert someone to another worldview if you treat them like they believe differently than you because they are morally inferior to you.

It does not make Christians look good, it only makes them all look like judgement jerks and do you want to convert to a religion filled with people like that.

 2. Too much reliance on the threat of hell.

Threatening a non-Christian with hell is like threatening an adult with no presents for Christmas.People cannot be tthreaten someone with something they do not believe in. No graphic descriptions of it or what ifs can change that. Also, the fact they on hell so much makes their argument look weak.

It makes it seem that Christianity is a religion dependant on fear and who want to convert to a religion out of fear?

3. Ignorance of religion or spirituality of the person being witnessed too.

Half the time I am forced to explain to the person trying to convert me that I do not do ‘dark’ magic or use aborted fetuses in my ritual. Looking stupid never makes anything looks good. There seems to be a   sire to be purposefully ignorant of the other person’s belief systems to avoid being ‘tempted’. This only causes frustration tot he person being witnessed too, by having what they believe so misrepresented.

This only causes frustrations. If someone is going to spend time witnessing to someone, they should take tome to understand what the other person believes, or else it is a time waster to both of them

4. Ignorance of their own religion

Possibly one of the most frustrating things is being witnesses to someone who does not understand their own faith or book. I can easily point out immoral parts of the Bible like directions for slavery and such, and I am often accused of lying even when I give out the chapter or pointing out how many things Christianity stole from Paganism.

Public Service sacrifces and offerings

In the Pagan world when we often speak of sacrifices and offerings we usually refer to stones, candles, food, and flowers. However, I will often hear a brief mention of service sacrifices like donation and volunteering in the name of Gods, but I rarely hear it(From my experinced) truely discussed.

There are some much information about material offerings on the net to even advice on writing hymns and poems dedicated to deties. I am going to state this before I continue, I am not in any way, shape, or form condemining such trypes of offerings or sacerfices.

I am giving discussion to a from of it that is rarely discussed, publics services done in the name of detities. Today, in honor of Lughnasadh, I donated blood, orignally I went to donated platelets, but my count was far too low for it, so it settled on whole blood.

Before she stuck my with the needle, I whispered barely above my breath

“Lady Hestia, I offer this in your name.”

I feel this is appropriate, in acient times the hearth was the center of the family and community, making Hestia in many ways the Goddess of the community. So I feel that any service to the community is a proper offering to her.

What do you think? Have you had any experinces with this yourself? Do you want to do this yourself. Do you think there are certian services that would be apporiate for certian deties or innaporiate.

Please share your thoughts!
